Hungarian couples usually have one to two children, and it remains a somewhat low average number of children per family in Europe. The family is the center of the social structure in Hungary. Generations of extended family often live together and grandparents play an important role in helping raise the grandchildren. The family provides both emotional and financial support to its members.
After completing high school, Hungarians will either pursue post-secondary education or travel abroad, although some of them will start working. Hungarian au pairs will usually have child care experience through private babysitting of younger siblings and relatives, kids in their neighborhood, etc.
To obtain a driver’s license, Hungarians need to pass a written exam, take practice driving lessons and pass a practical test. The fees to get a driver’s license are relatively high and about half of Hungarian households own a car. Hungary also has excellent public transportation. It is always recommended that you discuss your driving needs with your au pair.
Hungarian students are required to learn a foreign language. Although it does not necessarily have to be English, it remains, together with German, one of the two preferred foreign languages. More emphasis is put on writing skills and grammar so you may found that your Hungarian au pair is more comfortable reading and writing in English than speaking. **Montserrat would like to care for children ages 1 year and older** From February to October 2021, I took care of Adasu (8) and Susan (11) for five hours, three days a week. I took the children to school, prepared their clothes and meals. From January to December 2019, I took care of Santiago (7) and Hanna (1) for four hours, three days a week. I prepared breakfast, played, gave baths and got the children changed. From January to August 2018, I took care of Gerardo (1). I prepared meals, did general cleaning, played games and put child down for naps.

I really like spending my time with children because that way you can be authentic all the time, I know that I can be myself, I love learning from them and that they learn from me. One of the things I like to do with them the most is to explore their creativity, since children have a beautiful mind, I think it's what I like most about them, I enjoy seeing how far they are able to go by developing their personality. That's why I would like to be an AuPair, because I think it's a very gentle program to get to know the world and develop myself in the things I like to do the most. It is a challenge for me to push myself to change my environment completely, but I consider myself to be resilient and adaptable to achieve it. From March 11 to March 27 2024, I took care of a group of children from 2.5 to 4 years of age. I did activities with the children such as coloring, drawing, took them to the playground, prepared food, put milk in their bottles, changed diapers, and helped clean around the room. From September 2023 to February 2024, I took care of a group of children from 3 to 4 years of age. I gave the children milk, cleaned the classroom area, translated from English, taught the children the alphabet, numbers, drawing, coloring, took the children to the playground, played, assisted in the bathroom, gave baths, washed the children's clothes, brushed and tied their hair and took them to their parents. From September to December 2023, I took care of Chermin (6) and Team (7) on the weekends and during school breaks. I assisted with homework, did jigsaw puzzles, painting, roller skating, hide and seek and played football with the children.

I want to know about what different between Thai cultures and American cultures and I wanted to experience everything about American culture like the movies or tv shows I'd seen. Like the books I've read but the most important to go to America is spending an entire year caring for your children, be a part of an American family. Learning the differences between Thai children and American children and bring Thai cultures into teaching them about good thing and seeing them grow up and take these things that I had taught them to developing themselves and improve my English skill. and My strength is I can survive in any situation. I know how to speak or negotiate, how to act, how to solve a problem. I’m not the person who avoids the problem. I just go straight and fixing it. I always like to learn and get to know new things and have responsibility and right on time.

I want to be an au pair in USA because is the biggest opportunity for me to improve my level of English, I will also have de opportunity to learn more about America’s culture and its people. I am an adventurous person and I like to take risks, this was one of the main reasons why I decided to take this exchange program for the United States, as it helps me get out of my comfort zone, helps me face new challenges, as well as develop more skills with children and I will be able to improve my English, which is something elementary in the career of International Relations.
